A little over a month ago as I wrote in a previous post I signed up with GameFly. For those of you that missed it GameFly is a video game rental program, you pay a flat monthly fee and get an unlimited number of games mailed to you. Basically it’s Netflix but for video games.
I started out with GameFly’s 10 day free trial, honestly I really wasn’t interested in dropping any cash on a service I hadn’t tried first. The free trial lets you have 2 games out at once, so I rented Halo OSDT and Gran Turismo 5 to start out (both great games by the way). Apparently the estimated delivery times for games is 3-5 days, I live in and it took around 2-3 days for teh games to get mailed to me. Your mileage may vary.
I finished Gran Turismo and Halo ODST in about a week and mailed them back to get two new games. At this point I took a look through GameFly’s selection of games and was pleasantly surprised. Just about any new game you could want they have available for rent, hey I did manage to get Halo ODST so that says something. What really impressed me wasn’t having new games available, but the number of platforms they had games for. Xbox, Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, Wii, Gamecube. PSP, Nintendo DS you name it they had it.
I returned and rented a total of around 4 games in the free trial period. At this point I did a little math to see if GameFly was worth it. Buying 4 games at $50 would cost me 4 x 50 = $200. Renting them from GameFly cost me $0, zilch, nada.
So after a month testing the service I can confidently recommend to any of my blog readers. I also managed to get a special coupon code for those of you that are interested, click this link: and enter the coupon code TENDAY and get a 10 day free trial just like I did.
For those of you living in Canada looking for a GameFly alternative I would suggest checking out GameAccess. It’s basically identical to GameFly, except they ship to Canada and not the United States.
BestBuy is currently offering a prepaid subscription to GameFly at $21.95 for 2 months of the their rent 2 games at once service. This breaks down to $10.98 a month, compared to their normal price of $21.95 a month for their two game plan.
Unfortunately existing GameFly subscribers do not qualify for the offer, only new customers. wouldn’t advise trying to get around this as GameFly checks new users against their database based on address and credit card number. Existing customers can however purchase the gift card for a friend or family member. Keep in mind the gift card does require a credit card to verify, so remember to bring it with you for your purchase. Customers must also be at least 18 years of age, or have their parent or guardian purchase it for them.
Probably GameFly’s best commercial so far. Gamer’s showing their frustration after spending $60 on a terrible game. If you haven’t done so yet definitely check out GameFly” so you don’t make the same mistake the people in the commercial did.
Stop paying $60 every time a new video game comes out, while you struggle to make car payments. Stop getting conned by payed off game reviewers into buying another piece of crap game that’s just last years title with updated graphics.
Get GameFly and you can have any video game you want. Mailed to your door with free shipping. For a flat monthly fee.
Here is how it works, you make a list of games to rent with their simple online form. Then they mail a game to you from your list. You play the game for as long you like, absolutely no late or hidden fees. When you are finished you mail the game back and they send you a new one. All you pay is a flat monthly fee of $16 to rent one game at a time, or $23 to rent two games at once.
Consider how much you spend a month on video games. If you are like me you probably purchase one of the new hot titles for $60, and an older game that looks interesting for $20. You probably play them for a month before getting bored and blowing another $80 once a new month roles around. At that rate you spend close to $1,000/year on crappy video games. Get GameFly and you can play those exact same games and save $800 cash money per year.
Still not quite convinced? Click this exclusive coupon link to GameFly’s website for a 10 day no obligation free trial. So what do you have to lose? 10 days of your life to play video games with the potential to save $800/year? Gamers have made greater sacrificers for their sport before.
GameFly Tunes is the free music download service brought to you by GameFly. Every month members of GameFly get 5 totally free song downloads from the artist or band of the month. The artist varies from month to month but they try to choose both established and up and coming artists.
All the songs are to DRM (Digital Rights Management) free and work on all iPod, MP3 players, phones and computers. Sadly if you forget to download the songs from last month there is no way to download songs from last month.
Want to search GameFly’s vast array of over 6,000 video game titles? Just type the game you are looking for in the search box below and you will be directed to that games page on GameFly’s website. Pretty spiffy huh?
